Notaries host the RON session, so your workstation needs stable audio, video, and bandwidth. Use this checklist to confirm you are ready to notarize on NotaryCentral.
Required setup for notaries
- Stable internet connection. Plan for reliable broadband or wired internet to avoid dropped sessions.
- Microphone. Built-in or external mics are fine as long as your audio is clear.
- Camera. A webcam or integrated camera is required to verify identity and record the session.
- Google Chrome installed. Notaries are required to use Google Chrome to host the session. (Signers can use any modern browser on any device. See system requirements for signers.)
Run the system check
Before your first appointment, run the NotaryCentral system check to verify your camera, microphone, and connection. Use the diagnostic any time you change devices or networks.

Helpful readiness tips
- Close bandwidth-heavy apps (video streaming, large downloads) before a session.
- Use a quiet, well-lit space so signers can see and hear you clearly.
- Keep your charging cable nearby so you do not lose power mid-session.
