1. Start with an active Texas notary commission

Before applying for online notary authority, make sure you already hold an active Texas notary commission. You will need your commission details when you complete the online notary application.

2. Apply to become a remote online notary

Your next step is the Texas online notary application. Use the Texas RON submission guide to review the submission artifacts, online form sections, and SOSDirect filing portal.

3. Set up your NotaryCentral workspace

After you log in to NotaryCentral, complete your workspace setup at app.notarycentral.org/search/onboarding. This is where you prepare your workspace before running RON sessions.

4. Do a practice RON

You can complete a practice RON before your Texas RON approval is finalized. Use the Texas practice RON training module to rehearse the flow before using it with a real signer.

5. Do a live RON

After you are approved and your workspace is ready, use the Texas live RON training module to prepare for completing a live remote online notarization.
