The Signing Defaults screen allows notaries to set standard preferences for newly created appointments. By configuring default fees, durations, and checklist tracking, you reduce setup overhead for each new signing.
Signing Defaults Settings (/search/settings/signing-defaults)
From the Signing defaults preferences, you can configure the following global preferences:
1) Appointment Duration and Status
- Default Duration β Set the standard time block reserved for new appointments (e.g., 30 minutes, 60 minutes).
- Default to Confirmed β Enable this to default newly created signings to the "Confirmed" state automatically.
- Default to RON β Enable this to default newly created signings to "Remote Online Notarization" (RON).
2) Notarial Fees
- Default Fee Per Act β Define the baseline notarial fee applied per act.
- Default Fee Per Act 2 β An optional secondary act fee rate if your jurisdiction or pricing model supports multiple act tiers.
3) Auto Mileage Fees
- Automatic Calculation β Enable this to automatically itemize mileage fees on new signings.
- Default Mileage Fee β Specify the per-mile rate used for automatic mileage charge calculations.
4) Checklist Compliance Items
Choose whether specific tracking items should appear in the signing checklist:
- Track notarial acts β Include recordkeeping verification in the checklist.
- Track Oath/Affirmation β Mandate verification of verbal oaths/affirmations in the checklist.
- Track release of documents β Include a task verifying that completed documents have been delivered.
