At this time, NotaryCentral does not set a total account-level storage cap. We want you to focus on running your notary business, not constantly managing a running storage allowance or worrying about running out of space.
Is there a limit on the total data volume I can store with NotaryCentral?
NotaryCentral does not currently impose an account-wide limit like "10 GB," "100 GB," or "1 TB."
In practical terms, this means you can continue securely storing your legally required notary business records without having to watch a total storage meter, and you will never need to delete older records simply to stay under a plan cap.
What is taking up space?
The largest files in your NotaryCentral account will almost always be your remote online notarization (RON) session recordings. Because these preserve both the audio and video of your entire session, a single video can be much larger than a standard document.
After videos, the next-largest category is generally documents and uploaded files, such as the PDFs you prepare for a signing room or the final notarized documents you return to your clients.
Smaller records—such as appointment details, electronic journal entries, receipts, or business notes—take up virtually no space at all.
What about individual file uploads?
While there is no total limit on your entire account, NotaryCentral enforces a 100MB cap per individual file upload.
If you try to upload a massive, unoptimized PDF document that exceeds 100MB, the system will ask you to compress it first. This isn't because you've run out of account storage—it's a built-in safety measure to ensure the file can be processed quickly and the signing room loads smoothly without crashing your client's web browser.
If you hit this limit and are unable to compress your document any further, please reach out to NotaryCentral Support and we can discuss how to accommodate your enterprise workflow!
Practical guidance for your business
- Keep your records: Always retain your legally required records for the full retention period mandated by your state or commissioning authority.
- Don't delete just to save space: You do not need to delete older RON recordings or documents just to "free up room" in your account.
- Reach out if you need help: As with any cloud service, if you plan on doing an unusually high volume of enterprise-scale transactions, just reach out to our support team so we can help optimize your workflow!
The bottom line: There is no total GB limit for your account. You can securely store your videos, documents, and journal entries without worrying about hitting a storage cap.
