Preparing Documents for the Signing Room

Upload PDFs and configure document purposes for tracking.

Before signers and notaries enter the live remote online notarization (RON) signing room, the documents must be uploaded and configured. This preparation screen ensures that everyone is signing the correct pages and that completion tracking is configured properly.

Uploading Documents (/appointments/[id]/documents)

When Preparing documents for an appointment, NotaryCentral offers an upload zone to easily queue files.

  • Supported formats β€” Upload PDFs or image files (such as JPEG/PNG) that need to be presented in the signing room.
  • Drag-and-drop support β€” Drag files directly into the dashed upload area, or click Pick files to browse your local device.

Document Purpose and Completion Tracking

For each document you upload, you must configure a Purpose. The purpose tells NotaryCentral how to track progress and enforce compliance:

  1. To read

    • The document is viewable by everyone in the signing room, but no interactive signature or notary fields are required.
    • No completion tracking is applied.
  2. To sign

    • The document requires one or more signatures from signers.
    • Tracks whether the signers have placed their signatures.
  3. To notarize

    • The document is the main target of the notarization and requires notary stamps, seals, or certificates.
    • Tracks whether the notary has completed all required notarial actions.
