South Dakota does not issue a separate RON license or require a separate RON exam. A commissioned notary adds electronic or remote notarization capability by notifying the Secretary of State on the prescribed notary application or change form, attaching an electronic seal image, and listing the tamper-evident vendor names they will use.
This page is a practical submission checklist, not legal advice. Confirm current filing requirements with the South Dakota Secretary of State before submitting.

Electronic seal image prerequisite
South Dakota asks for an electronic seal image when you add e-notary services. In NotaryCentral, that image is labeled as a seal because it is the official electronic notary seal generated from your commission details.
Use the South Dakota certificate, seal, and stamp setup page to prepare your electronic seal image: Digital Notary Certificates, Seal & Stamp for South Dakota.
