1. Start with an active New Jersey notary commission

Before adding remote or electronic notarization authority, make sure you already hold an active New Jersey notary commission. You will use your commission number and date of birth to access the online update flow.

2. Submit the remote/electronic notarization notification

Your next step is the New Jersey online notification. Use the New Jersey RON submission guide to review the portal steps, technology identification requirement, no-upload approach, and no separate RON/e-notary filing fee.

3. Set up your NotaryCentral workspace

After you log in to NotaryCentral, complete your workspace setup at app.notarycentral.org/search/onboarding. This is where you prepare your workspace before running RON sessions.

4. Do a practice RON

After your workspace is ready, use the New Jersey practice RON training module to rehearse the flow before using it with a real signer.

5. Do a live RON

After your state record is updated and your workspace is ready, use the New Jersey live RON training module to prepare for completing a live remote online notarization.
