Before you create the sample notarized document, set up the digital certificate and seal needed for remote online notarization.

How to notarize a document for your New York exemplar
New York requires a sample notarized document (exemplar) showing your drawn electronic signature, official electronic notary seal, and digital certificate provider information. Create it with NotaryCentral's Sample Notarized Document tool:
- Upload a PDF and configure your digital certificate, passphrase, and electronic notary seal (Step 1 — Asset Setup).
- Place your seal and draw your signature using the Notary Seal and Signature tools in the document editor — do not paste images (Step 2 — Practice Document).
- Click Finalize document, then Download Signed PDF (Step 3 — Finalize & Deliver).
- Upload the downloaded PDF to the NY DOS online notary application when it requests your sample notarized document.

- You can certify that you meet New York's online notary eligibility requirements.
- You are ready to pay the filing fee electronically.
