1. Create your exemplar
New York asks you to submit an exemplar—a sample notarized document showing your electronic signature and seal—as part of the online-notary application process. After setting up your digital certificate and electronic seal, use NotaryCentral to create and download your sample notarized document.
2. Apply and submit the exemplar
Use the New York RON submission guide to review the remaining submission artifacts, online form sections, and filing requirements. Upload the exemplar you downloaded when the application requests your sample notarized document.
3. Set up your NotaryCentral workspace
After you log in to NotaryCentral, complete your workspace setup at app.notarycentral.org/search/onboarding. This is where you prepare your workspace before running RON sessions.
4. Do a practice RON
You can complete a practice RON before your New York RON approval is finalized. Use the New York practice RON training module to rehearse the flow before using it with a real signer.
5. Do a live RON
After you are approved and your workspace is ready, use the New York live RON training module to prepare for completing a live remote online notarization.
