Federal Holiday Charges and Observance

Choose whether your holiday surcharge includes federally observed dates as well as actual holiday dates.

•

Automatically add a holiday charge when an appointment falls on a supported U.S. federal holiday. Decide whether shifted observance dates should also qualify.

If you also charge for Saturday or Sunday appointments, see Weekend and Holiday Pricing for examples showing how a holiday fee replaces the $40 weekend fee while evening charges can still apply.

Configure a holiday charge

  1. Open Additional Charges.
  2. Add a Flat or Percentage charge and enter its amount or rate.
  3. Select Automatically, then Federal holiday.
  4. Set Include federally observed dates. It is enabled by default.
  5. Select View federal holiday schedule to review dates, assign the charge to services, and save.

Actual dates and observed dates

The actual holiday date always qualifies. With observed dates enabled, a Saturday holiday also qualifies on the preceding Friday, and a Sunday holiday also qualifies on the following Monday. Turning the switch off removes the shifted date, not the actual holiday date.

For example, Independence Day 2026 falls on Saturday, July 4. With observance enabled, both Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 qualify. With observance disabled, only July 4 qualifies. A single charge is applied once per appointment, even when its holiday and observed-date tests coincide.

These weekend shifts follow the standard Monday–Friday federal observance pattern described by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. NotaryCentral uses them as booking-pricing rules.

Preview dates and confirm the quote

The schedule viewer shows the current year and up to three years ahead. Scroll to see all 11 holidays; shifted observance dates appear beside their actual dates. New Year's observance can fall in the preceding calendar year and still qualifies when enabled.

The appointment date is evaluated in the business timezone. Holiday pricing does not close availability. A matching holiday fee replaces a linked weekend fee. It may apply alongside matching same-day or Evening / After Hours charges; check the itemized quote for each linked charge. The same replacement applies when an enabled observed date falls on a weekend.
